The Gardens Poker Classic’s Garden of Eden tour – Last week I wrote about The Gardens Poker Classic getting off to a great start with a $ 100,000 guarantee in the first event.
But this week Gardens found itself in the middle of a poker controversy. When I first heard the news that the Casino supports additional flights to the $ 1 Million Guarantee after it went well, I had my doubts.
Call to the accuracy of that thing. They added two more days to the event because they made no guarantees, which is called an overlay.
Angry players took to social media to attack the decision and vowed never to play at the casino again. Poker Night in America, which is a partner in the event, stated that they were a production company and had no input in management’s decision to make changes to the Main Event.
If you have trouble reading the fine print at the bottom of the handout, there is usually a standard disclaimer stating that it is right to change or modify events. The problem with Park’s decision is that once the tournament starts there are contracts for players that cannot be changed.
Recently Commerce Casino had a tournament which did not meet the advertised guarantees, but Commerce stepped up and did the right thing by honoring the guarantee. Gardens Casino, which recently underwent a $ 90 million renovation, found itself in the midst of a public relations disaster.
Many players have planned their work week around the finals being held as advertised with the event ending last Sunday. It is time for casinos to honor advertised promotions and state regulatory board games to protect players who in good faith enter these events.
I will definitely think twice before playing any tournament at Gardens Casino. The factors I take into account while playing are the stated warranty and end date stated. Since I work during the week, it is important to me that events end on the weekend. It’s bothersome that this happened, but I hope it never happens again.
