Assemblyman J.Gary Pretlow, who heads the New York Assembly Racing and Betting Committee, said he was ready to support business efforts to legalize online poker in New York in an interview with the FIOS1 News network. Commenting on the potential of online poker, Pretlow explained that if the New York community wants to play joniqq poker, he wants to make sure that the game is as fair as possible.
Setting up online poker in New York has become a hot topic in the countryside where two separate bills have been proposed so far. The first bill, S3898, was recently re-introduced in the Senate by Senator John Bonacic and has already received a positive vote by the Race, Games, and Senate Betting Committee this February. The second was a very similar bill from Pretlow, which filled it to the Assembly shortly after the Bonacic Bill received a positive vote.
The 2nd bill will see poker be classified as a skill-based game, not a game of luck, and will open the door for iPoker licenses in foreign countries. According to the proposal, there will be a total of 11 existing licenses for NY operators, each costing $ 10 million, while operators will have to pay a 15% tax on their gross game revenue in the state.
Bonacic’s poker bill was passed in the Senate with a big difference last year, only to be “dead” in the Assembly by Pretlow because it was presented with minimal support. But in a recent interview, the NY Assembly explained that if it does not see if the transfer of the bill will meet with some of the current opposition, although he admitted that there are still some who oppose the idea. It provides extra if it wants to see poker live in casinos as well as NY casinos proposed by the state.
